Why are the Minnesota Vikings not trying to trade for Jay Cutler?
Ever since Dante Culpepper left the Minnesota Vikings have not had a superstar quarterback. They claim they will do what it takes to win the Super Bowl and showed great ambition in free agent signings last year (Bernard Berrian, Jared Allen etc.) The Vikings still sorely need a real quarterback. Sage Rosenfels is average in his career so far, Tarvaris Jackson is a career back up.

- As a vikings fan i am wondering about this also but i think its to early to tell about what teams are out there trying to get cutler. The reason is Denver hasnt said they are willing to rade him and thats why the vikes havent made a move but if they put him on the trading block they better step up and get him.
- Good question, vikings have alot of talent on their roster. But without a decent qb they will never bring home a title. I taught they should go after Cassel but they didnt make a big effort. Seriously they need a good qb, they already have the best rb in the league. They would be a playoff countender if they would go after Jay.
- The Jets are also interested in Cutler, nevertheless, according to the newspapers, he has a bad attitude.
- idk why? garcia and cutler. 2 pretty good QBs but they dont want them. when they can get a good QB they'll find themselves back in the NFC Championship game.
- i think part of the rosenfels contract was that he would be able to compete for the starting position. cutler's not going to sign with a team that would make him compete for the job. (even if he would win anyway)
- the only reason the vikings wont trade for cutler is that they just traded a 4th round pick for sage rosenfels, and trading for cutler would make that a complete waste of a trade
- Minnesota over the last few seasons have been predominantly a run first offense, and a defense minded team. Cutler is used to throwing around 40 passes a game, and if he were to do that with the Vikings then they would have to change their whole offensive perspective.
- Denver doesn't want draft picks for Cutler. What current Vikings players would you be willing to give up for Cutler? You'd be talking about losing an Adrian Peterson or a Jared Allen in order to land Cutler. Not worth it in my opinion.
- Although denver has not said they would trade cutler, one thing they have made clear is that they would only consider trading him for a proven qb. Vikings and Jets dont have that to offer, so don't expect him to end up in either team
- Eric really has the Best Answer here. The Vikings are a run first team (All Day and Chester T) and a guy who likes to throw a lot (Cutler, Favre, Brady) doesn't fit well in a run first system like that. The Vikings need a game manager to make simple throws when needed and not make a lot of mistakes. Sage is a QB suited for this, though I would take Garcia personally despite his age.
- They already have Sage Rosenfels lol. Besides, Chicago will take Cutler, so back off.
- Because they are stupid. Culpepper wasn't that good either. He had two good years surrounded by several lousy ones. He had the best WR's ever! The Vikings haven't had a real QB since Tarkenton retired!
- I doubt if Denver will do anything until Draft Day. There will be lots of wheeling and dealing. I don;t see the Vikings in that mix though. What does Minnesota have that would interest Denver? The Vikes certainly wouldn't give up AP. Or either one of the Williams boys on the DL. That leaves nothing. And at his best (and that was 1 year) Culpepper was average, no superstar by any stretch.
