What is the best record of an NFL team that failed to make the playoffs?

This year, the NE Patriots could end up 11-5 and fail to make the playoffs. Has any other 11-5 team failed to make the NFL playoffs? Even if not, what are other outstanding NFL teams that failed to make the playoffs?
