Minnesota Vikings

Is the linebacker position in American football right for me?

Ive just turned 16 and i live in england but im soon to be moving back to the states and i wanted to give american football a try. Im almost 6ft2, im 200 pounds, ive been playing rugby since i was 8 and i can sprint the 100 metres in just under 13 seconds. If not could ya tell me what positions you might think would be better?

  1. You'd be much better suited for the wide reciever. You're not heavy enough to be a line backer and you're the right height/weight/speed to be a wide reciever.
  2. Linebacker sounds just about right or strong safety. You could also try for tightend or runningback. This is JV football right?
  3. Sorry Jess, but Ray Lewis is 6 ft 1, 250 lbs, and arguably one of the better linebackers ever to grace the gridiron, so you are suited to play this position. Pick whatever position interests you the most but ultimately your coaches will decide where you play.
  4. If your 16, and you are that big, you would be an awesome linebacker. You will gain weight, learn the position, and by the time you are 18, you will be ready for any college running back, stick with it, and work hard!!
  5. If you pack on some pounds, yes, but if you like yourself the way you are, you can try cornerback on defense or runningback and wide reciever.
