Will Football ever overtake Gridiron in America?

From what I understand, Football is your biggest junior sport with boys and girls team all over the country. Does it mean that Gridiron's days are numbered? Who's the best football player you guys have ever produced?

  1. "Soccer"will not. In AMERICA we seem to like that our "Football"is a bit more physical and intense than an organized game of kickball.
  2. by football u mean soccer? and by gridiron u mean pigskin throwing football? well hell no. no way in the world will it ever. people watch more football than soccer. soccer is a great international sport but here in big people-fast food america, football will always be greater than soccer.
  3. Soccer will never be able to take over football, basketball, or baseball. The American public is just not drawn to it, nor does it have the history the big 3 have.
  4. Take over, not a chance! Americans want see points scored. A tie or 0-0 game is no fun no matter how well the game is played. Hockey's attendance is suffering for the same reason no scoring. if more points could be scored in soccer it might have a chance of surviving here in the states but even with Mr Posh spice in town I don't think he can save the sport in the US. The rest of the world can have it!!!!
  5. YES
  6. Football is the biggest junior sport, but I don;t see it ever taking over American Football as the #1 sport in America. The biggest reason is because most kids that play football (soccer) give it up by the time they're in middle school. All the people you see on this site bashing football, I bet most of them played it for at least one season when they were kids. I did, but I quit because I was more interested in baseball and American Football. The way it has to compete with the market of other sports here is another reason it won't surpass American Football. MLS doesn't have near the resources that the NFL has. As far as the best American player, I'd have to say it's either Landon Donovan or Alexi Lalas, but I'm not an expert by any means so I could be way off there.
